Accompanied by his parents and younger brother, Warren Central (Indianapolis, IN) star Kris Harley made an official visit to Virginia Tech last weekend. The 6-2, 265-pound defensive tackle prospect reflected on the experience and updated the latest in his preparation for the next level.

Hosted by former Warren Central running back Darren Evans, Harley, like he has on the previous visits to Virginia Tech, gets a good vibe when he’s around the players. And of course he enjoys the Blacksburg environment.

“It’s a cool feel,” said Harley, who committed to Tech back in April. “I feel like I’m really going to have a good time there. I’m pretty much comfortable there. It feels like home.”

Harley continues to get a good feeling about the coaching staff as well.

“I talked to Coach Foster and Coach Wiles a lot [last weekend]. And then with Coach Beamer some,” Harley said. “They’re really cool people and they are like that all the time. That’s what the players tell me.”

Coming in and contributing as a true freshman is a serious goal for Harley, who started for three seasons on what is one of the top high school football squads in Indiana.

“It’s coming great. It’s going real great,” Harley said of his preparation for his freshman season at Tech. “I’m hitting the weight room hard. I’m working on my speed. Basically, I’m working on everything. I have workouts in the morning, lifting weights and things like that. I work out every day except for Friday.”

Finding motivation is not difficult for the blue-chip prospect.

“I’m starting at the bottom of the totem poll,” said Harley, who is rated a 4-star recruit by Rivals and Scout. He was recently named first-team all-state for his play this past season.

Harley added, “I feel like I have a great opportunity [to play next year]. That’s why I’m working so hard.”
