Thourogood Update: Florida Now In The Picture

Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, VA) quarterback/athlete Lafonte Thourogood has taken official visits to Virginia Tech and West Virginia with, at this point, one of those two schools likely to be his college choice. But the 6-2, 215-pound senior has not yet narrowed his list down to just those programs, and he is considering official visits to one or two SEC schools.

“I think he had positive trips to both places,” Dolphins head coach Chris Scott said, referring to Thourogood’s official visits to Virginia Tech and West Virginia. “I don’t think anything has been cleared up as far as one school standing out. They were both positive trips and he enjoyed both of them. He saw things at West Virginia he loved in regards to the offense. There were things at Virginia Tech he would love to be part of with the offense and the familiarity of the team. But he still has some decision making left.”

Thourogood had been to Tech many times before his official visit on the weekend of the Wake Forest game. Coach Scott discussed further what his star signal caller was able to get accomplished with the official.

“His dad was able to see a lot of stuff, to sit down with the coaches and get quality time at the end of the day,” Scott said. “His dad hadn’t been up to Tech yet. His dad hadn’t been up to West Virginia either. What Lafonte saw on the official visits were things he had seen already, but they were about getting his family exposed to the environments and the situations he would be in as a player. His parents gained perspective. Family is important to him in his decision making and it was important for his dad to get to meet Coach Beamer and see how important a recruit he would be there.”
