Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, VA) quarterback Lafonte Thorougood has taken unofficial visits to Notre Dame and Virginia Tech this fall. A North Carolina coach stopped by to watch a game and West Virginia was represented at school. Recruiting continues to be busy for the 6-2, 215-pound senior, who is now in the process of scheduling official visits.
“The certainties [for official visits] are Arkansas, West Virginia, and Virginia Tech,” Dolphins head coach Chris Scott said. “There are other places he’d probably like to see, but he is seeing how everything develops on each school’s side as well as his side. Those three we have concrete.”

One of the top senior signal caller’s in the state, Thourogood missed two weeks this season due to a shoulder injury. He returned for Ocean Lakes’ fifth regular season game – a win over First Colonial – and was rolling last week, when the Dolphins (6-0) defeated Kellam 41-20. In the win, Thourogood completed 13-22 passes for 135 yards and rushed six times for 58 yards and three touchdowns.
“We’re getting back into a rhythm with him out there. We need him healthy and ready to go,” said Scott,...
