Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, VA) head coach Chris Scott, whose Dolphins squad is 3-0 so far this season, took some time to update several recruiting situations and the play of several seniors, including quarterback Lafonte Thourogood , offensive tackle Chaz Lowery and more.

Before suffering a sprained left shoulder – the non-throwing shoulder – in Ocean Lakes’ second game of the season, 6-2, 215-pound senior Lafonte Thourogood had tallied 210 yards passing, 119 yards rushing and six scores. Coach Scott expects his star signal caller back for tomorrow night’s contest against Kempsville.

“When he has been out there, he has done a great job in leading and running and calling the offense,” Scott said. “The work he did in the offseason is paying off. He is reading defenses, being accurate and making the throws he has got to make. He continues to get better with every single rep.”

Other than that, I haven’t heard anything.”

Stout defense

Thourogood’s injury occurred in the Salem game. Thanks to a big-time effort from the D, the Dolphins captured a 22-0 win. The defense has been big all season long, pitching two shutouts before Tallwood scored 14 in last week’s 35-14 win.
