Michael Cole will announce his college choice on August 2, the first day of two-a-days at Cave Spring High School (Roanoke, VA). The 6-2, 200-pound linebacker/safety prospect seems to have made his choice already, but he will think on it a few more weeks before the announcement.
“It is kind of a relief to know in my mind where I want to go,” said Cole, a rising senior ranked #17 in the TSL Preseason Top 40. “It has been stressful and exciting, but it feels good that it’s almost over. I have a strong idea of where I want to go in my head.”
Cole has yet to inform the coaches of his decision, but he will do so before the announcement comes. As for the announcement itself, it will come on Greg Roberts’ radio show on August 2. The show takes place between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., but no specific time has been set.
Cole has not ruled out any school at this point, but, barring a change, the choice will come from two schools.
“[Penn State and Virginia Tech] are probably the frontrunners, but I have not eliminated UVa and Duke and all those others,” said Cole, who boasts offers from Connecticut, Duke, Maryland, Ohio, Penn State, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
The Roanoke standout has no intention of making more college visits, but he did take a final trip to Virginia Tech on Tuesday.
“I went back up to Tech because I had a couple of questions I had to ask,” Cole said. “Previously at Penn State, I went on one big visit and got to see it all once. I went back up to Tech on Tuesday to talk to the academic advisor and get that kind of stuff squared away. I wanted to finish up stuff with the school so I could decide more evenly.
“I’m done with visits. The rest of this week, I’m taking it easy. Next week, I’m going to the beach with my family. That’ll give me a break. I can just get away for a little bit before I announce my decision.”
