North Mecklenburg (Huntersville, N.C.) forward Bernard Sullivan named a top five this past Saturday and the list includes three ACC schools, one Big East program and one Big 10 school. The 6-8 junior has been offered by four of the five favorites.
“I’d say Clemson. I’d say both Virginia schools, Virginia and Virginia Tech. I’d say Penn State and Georgetown,” said Sullivan when asked if he had any favorite schools. Of the five, only Georgetown has not yet offered.
Clemson, where Sullivan has attended camp since the 8th grade, currently leads.
“I feel like I know the whole program. I know the whole staff. I’m cool with all the players. Definitely Clemson right now,” Sullivan said.
While Oliver Purnell’s program has the edge, Sullivan doesn’t seem ready to make a commitment too soon.
“It’s still hard. You have to look at everything and sift through everything,” Sullivan said. “It’s one of the most important decisions you can make.”
With respect to the two Virginia schools, Sullivan has visited Virginia Tech but has not visited UVa. He says he plans to visit the latter sometime this summer.
“With Virginia Tech, I went to a football game when they played N.C. State,” Sullivan said. “Their facility is crazy. It’s real nice. I like the way they play. They play kind of open. I like Coach Greenberg. Their staff is cool. Coach Greenberg has come down to see me play, sometimes every week, so I know they are interested.
“With Virginia, I haven’t been on a visit, but I know the head coach came down a few times and the assistant coach came down to see some of my games. When the head coach comes down, that’s a good sign. I like the way they play, too. They’ve got some versatile players, too.”
