Detrick Bonner’s recruiting card

Accompanied by a handful of family members, Luella (Locust Grove, GA) cornerback prospect Detrick Bonner was in Blacksburg last month for Virginia Tech’s big win over Miami. Just like fellow Hokie recruit Mark Leal, who was in Blacksburg that weekend on an official visit, Bonner had never been to a game at Virginia Tech before.

“It was great,” said Bonner, who hopes to return for another game this fall. “The crowd was live. It was raining out and it was cold, but me, my brother and my dad were all into it.”

Projected as a cornerback for the Hokies, the 6-0, 170-pound prospect paid close attention to Bud Foster’s defense.
