Fork Union Military Academy (VA) offensive lineman Russell Bodine had targeted the end of May as a possible time for making a college commitment. A May decision no longer appears likely, but don’t expect the 6-4, 285-pound center prospect to wait too long to decide his college future.
“I’m going to have a decision here in June,” Bodine said.
“Obviously I still haven’t made one yet, but I’m starting to narrow stuff down. I’m still looking at people coming in late. I just talked to U-Conn, Stanford, Notre Dame, and Northwestern offered me [Tuesday]. I’m supposed to find out something on Notre Dame either Thursday or Friday. If they offer, I may be looking to visit there the last week of May. And since Northwestern is in the same vicinity, I might visit there, too. I know right now I’m going to UNC on June 1st.”
Three ACC programs currently stand out to 2008 first-team all-state selection. He did not claim a favorite from the three, saying the three are “all real close.”
“I’m looking very seriously at UVa and UNC as well as Virginia Tech,” he said. “They are kind of my top three right now. I’m not saying that couldn’t change.”
Living so close to Charlottesville, Bodine has been to UVa a number of times. He visited Virginia Tech for its Spring Game in April. Besides the return trip to UNC and a possible visit to Notre Dame, Bodine has no other visits scheduled.
“A lot of that has to do with who offers late,” Bodine said when asked if he would make other college visits in June.
The top center prospect in the state of Virginia’s 2010 class, Bodine now boasts double-digit Division 1A offers including California, Duke, Marshall, North Carolina, Northwestern, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
