Virginia Tech lost two quality starters at inside linebacker after the Orange
Bowl, and they will be replacing them from a pool of very young players. The
mike and backer spots will be the focus for Bud Foster this spring, while Jim
Cavanaugh will try and figure out who his whip linebacker of the future might
be.

Brett Warren and Purnell Sturdivant are gone, and the Hokies have nothing but
inexperience to replace them with. Cam Martin is also out for the spring at
whip, so Cody Grimm will work full-time with the starting defense, while at
least two r-freshmen will try to make an impression for the future.
