Thoughts From the UNC Game

Sitting in Cassell Coliseum last night and watching the Hokies drop another
close game put a few thoughts into my head. Some are specific to last night’s
game, while others seem to be developing trends. Finally, though I’d prefer to
stay away from the issue of fan support when the Hokies play UNC in Cassell, I
just can’t.

Bad Starts Lead to Bad Results

Virginia Tech is just 1-3 in their last four games, and all of those games
have the same thing in common. The Hokies got off to bad starts and had to dig
themselves out of big holes to get back in the game.

Tech has been down by double figures early in two of their last four games,
and they also trailed UNC by nine and Clemson by seven. Those are four teams
that are ranked in the Top 25, and two of them are in the Top 10. You can’t
shoot yourself in the foot against that type of competition and still hope to
win the basketball game. Those teams are too good.

Oddly enough, Tech failed to come back and defeat
