Robinson (Fairfax, VA) defensive end Jordan Stanton, a 6-4, 240-pound prospect with sub-4.6 speed in the 40, took unofficial visits to Virginia and Virginia Tech in November and December. Stanton boasts official scholarship offers from James Madison and Old Dominion, but has either of the two in-state ACC programs come through since those visits?

“Not a whole lot has changed in his recruitment,” Robinson head coach Mark Bendorf said. “He has two visits set up in January, one for JMU and one for ODU. Virginia Tech and UVa are still recruiting him, but neither has offered. It is my understanding that Virginia has submitted his academic information to Admissions, but that is all that has been done at this point.”

Stanton turned in an excellent senior season, totaling 81 tackles as one of Robinson’s starting defensive ends. Virginia and Virginia Tech coaches, who had the chance to see Stanton up close at their respective camps earlier this year, have been impressed by the standout senior’s 2008 performance.

“I think they realize he is kind of a late bloomer, with this season being only his second year of organized football,” Bendorf said. “The thing with him is he has big upside. He was second-team all-state and unanimous first-team all-region, and that speaks volumes because of his lack of experience.”
