Key quarterback recruit Kevin Newsome chose Penn State over Virginia Tech on
Tuesday. Individually it’s not a huge loss, but when you combine Newsome with
all of the other quarterbacks the Hokies have missed out on the last two years,
it really hurts.

Take a quick look at the highly-touted quarterbacks that the Hokies have
missed on the last couple of years.

Bryn Renner isn’t a 4-star player yet, but he likely will be when the next set
of rankings are released. Assuming he gets bumped up, that will be five 4-star
quarterbacks from the state of Virginia that the Hokies have missed out on over
the last two years. There were issues with each of them that were tough to
overcome, but one would think that a program like Virginia Tech, which carries
