Virginia Tech’s basketball team is seven games into the season, and their
record is currently 4-3. They have lost three games by a total of seven points.
Part of that is bad luck. However, this team has some serious issues right now
that need to get straightened out before they cost the Hokies anymore games.

Yes, with a bit of basketball luck the Hokies would probably be 6-1 right now
(they would have played Memphis, and probably lost, if Xavier’s halfcourt prayer
hadn’t banked in). They would have wins over Top 50 RPI teams such as Xavier and
Wisconsin. They might even be ranked in the Top 25. However, such a good early
season start would have masked some of the deficiencies that this team currently
possesses.

In my opinion, there are three key elements missing from this Tech basketball
