6-3, 234-pound tight end prospect Zico Pasut appears to be closing in on a decision. The Ardrey Kell (Charlotte, N.C.) rising senior has reduced his list to three schools – East Carolina, Virginia Tech and West Virginia – and a college commitment could come in the very near future.

Pasut does not expect to have a decision this week, but he does plan to knock one of the three finalists off of his list…and that could happen as early as today.

“I think I’ll cut one of the schools within the next couple of days,” Pasut said. “I don’t know which one I’ll cut out, but probably within a couple of days I’ll have it down to two.

“I’m not exactly sure when I’ll commit. I probably see myself deciding before the season starts.”

Pasut broke down each of the three finalists.

“With Virginia Tech, I like that it is a football powerhouse. It is one of the biggest football names in the country,” Pasut said.

“With ECU, I would definitely have playing time early on and it would be fun to be on a team that is building up their program.

With West Virginia, I loved the vibe I got there and the campus.”

Pasut has the option of graduating in December and enrolling in college in January of 2009. East Carolina and West Virginia have already said he could do this, while Virginia Tech is only offering enrollment in January of 2010, as a grey-shirt. Does this hurt the Hokies chances?

“It doesn’t hurt. It just gives me another option,” Pasut answered. “If I feel like I’m ready, I could go in early. If not, I could wait until August enrollment or with Virginia Tech I could go in a half-year later. I have three different options. I’ll have to do some thinking.”

Stay tuned for more on Pasut in the coming days, as we’ll check in with him for the latest on his seemingly impending decision. A solid tight end recruit, Pasut impressed the Tech coaches at the July senior camp.
