Our last two defensive previews have shown that the Hokies lack experience
and depth at some key positions in their front seven. Today will be a lot more
positive, as we talk about a unit that is deep and loaded with talent: the
secondary.
The Hokies did lose starting boundary cornerback Brandon Flowers, as well as
starting free safety D.J. Parker. Both will be drafted in April, and Flowers
could possibly go in the first round. Despite those losses, Torrian Gray (and
Jim Cavanaugh, who coaches the rovers) will have a lot of talent to work with
this spring, as usual. Virginia Tech is truly Defensive Back U.
