Q&A with Morgan Moses

TechSideline.com: Talk about your high school football career. Did you start out strong as a freshman?

Morgan Moses: Coming in my ninth grade year, it was a struggle. I started off on JV, actually, and I got moved up. I started some playoff games against Highland Springs and L.C. Bird. Playing after John [Graves] and all those other great players gave me a lift for what I could be. It’s coming true now.

TechSideline.com: Did you learn a lot from John and some of the other guys on the 2004 state championship team?

Morgan Moses: Playing against John, a great player at Virginia Tech now, and those other guys has made me what I am.

TechSideline.com: What has been the secret to Meadowbrook’s success in recent years (2003 and 2004 Central region champs, 2004 state champs, 2005 region finalists, 2007 district champions, 2007 region finalists)?

Morgan Moses: We get good players. The little league teams are always good, and players from those leagues go to Meadowbrook. We just work real hard and the coaches always push us to the max. We don’t cut ourselves slack. We just work hard and working hard pays off.

TechSideline.com: Talk about the 2007 season. Seems like the team played well, going 9-3 and winning the Central district championship.

Morgan Moses: As a team, we played real good. We won the first district championship in Meadowbrook history. A lot of the guys on the team I played with since little league. We were more of a family. We could depend on each other and it was fun.

TechSideline.com: You had a great season, earning first-team all-metro and VHSCA first-team all-state honors. What are you doing to improve for next season?

Morgan Moses: Right now, I’m in the weight lifting class with [Meadowbrook Head] Coach [Bill] Bowles during school and I’m working after school with the team for an extra workout.
