Virginia Tech has added yet another talented prospect to the defensive line, as Leon Mackey , a 6-4, 275-pound defensive end out of Newark, Delaware, signed with Virginia Tech. Mackey, who is attending Hargrave Military Academy this academic year, chose the Hokies over Florida State, North Carolina and N.C. State.

A talented, versatile lineman, Mackey is being recruited by Virginia Tech as a defensive end but he could potentially play defensive tackle. He is rated a 4-star prospect by Scout.com and a 3-star recruit by Rivals.com. Before deciding on Tech, he took official visits to the aforementioned programs.

Mackey joins an already talented Virginia Tech defensive line class, which also includes defensive end Isaiah Hamlette, defensive end Joe Jones, defensive tackle/offensive lineman Nick Becton, defensive tackle Antoine Hopkins and defensive tackle Dwight Tucker.

Virginia Tech signed two other players from Hargrave Military Academy as well. Linebacker Quillie Odom and wide receiver Kendrick Pressley, who both signed with Tech in 2007, re-signed with the Hokies today.
