6-3, 180-pound wide receiver Deion Walker has made some headway in his decision making process. Though he does not plan to make a commitment until December at the earliest, the 4-star Christchurch (VA) product could release a final 12 in the very near future. He has also set one of his official visits.
“I have narrowed it down, but I don’t want to put it out there yet. I’m on edge with a few of the teams,” Walker said. “I actually have put my decision date back to December 1st because I have to visit Southern Cal first. I want to take an official visit there so I have a better feel for it.”
Walker knows that he will make an official visit to Southern Cal, but that is not the official visit he has set.
“I’m taking one to Penn State on the weekend of September 8th,” Walker said. “I’m going to Florida State sometime in October. Then I’ll go to SC. After that, I don’t know where I’ll go.”
In August, Walker made unofficial visits to N.C. State and Penn State, respectively. He did not visit the two state of Virginia programs still under consideration, but as of right now he hopes to visit both this fall. This includes a trip to Virginia Tech, a program Walker now seems more interested in than previously thought.
“I talked with the Virginia Tech wide receivers coach a good bit about two weeks ago and actually I’ve talked to Tyrod [Taylor] a lot,” Walker said. “He tells me about the wide receiver situation and that he has played well. That sparked my interest. Coach Sherman told me how their top four receivers are leaving and how it would be a good situation for a guy like myself.”
Asked if UVa was still seriously in contention, Walker answered, “They are. I’ll probably go up there real soon and chill with JC (J’Courtney Williams) and visit with the coaches. I know I’ll probably go up there for a game....
