2007 Virginia Tech Football Season Preview: Tailbacks and Fullbacks

Last year, Virginia Tech had a big depth problem in the offensive backfield.
Branden Ore was great, but he was worn down by the end of the season because he
got so many carries. Kenny Lewis, Jr. was serviceable by the end of the season,
but as a true freshman, couldn’t come close to matching Ore’s production. This
year, things do look a little better than last season.

Tailback Fullback

Branden Ore (r-Jr.)

Carlton Weatherford (r-Sr.)

Kenny Lewis, Jr. (So.)

Kenny Jefferson (r-So.)

Jahre Cheeseman (r-So.)

Devin Perez (r-Jr.)

Dustin Pickle (Jr.)

Kenny Younger (So.)

Devin Radford (r-Fr.)

Don’t look for Ore to be used as much in 2007 as he was in 2006. Both Kenny
Lewis, Jr. and Jahre Cheeseman showed promise in the spring, and Lewis came back
even better in August. At fullback, the Hokies have very good depth and decent
experience.
