This is probably going to be the most difficult preview I’ve ever had to
write. If you’ve followed the depth chart for the past week, your head is
probably spinning. I’ve never seen so many position changes and so many depth
chart moves at one position in such a short period of time. Curt Newsome is
trying a lot of different combos up front, and things won’t begin to shake out
until Scrimmage #1 is in the books this Saturday.
Despite not knowing what position many of the players will end up at, here is
my projected depth chart. Or rather, my blind guess at a depth chart.
Virginia Tech Offensive Line Depth Chart |

LT | LG | C | RG | RT |
Duane Brown (r-Sr.) | Richard Graham (r-So.) | Ryan Shuman (r-Jr.) | Sergio Render (So.) | Nick Marshman (r-Jr.) |
Richard Graham (r-So.) | Jaymes Brooks (Fr.) | Beau Warren (r-Fr.) | Brandon Holland (So.) | Blake DeChristopher (Fr.) |
Clark Crum (r-Fr.) | Matt Welsh (r-Jr.) | Hivera Green (r-So.) | Aaron Brown (r-Fr.) | |
William Alvarez (Fr.) | Khalil Latif (Fr.) | Eric Davis (r-So.) |
For the most part, that was a lot of guesswork on my part. A lot. Some
guys are obviously locked in as starters. Others aren’t even locked into their
position. Instead of our normal preview by position, we’re going to break this
one up a different way.
