Butler (Matthews, N.C.) defensive back Eddie Whitley will announce his decision on Monday on ESPNU. The 6-1, 175-pound prospect is not sure of the time just yet, but he knows Monday will be the day. He will commit to either N.C. State or Virginia Tech.
“I am committing on ESPNU on Monday,” Whitley said. “Right now, I don’t know what time it will be. They are supposed to call me back today or tomorrow.
“Right now, I’m just weighing the pros and cons of each school. I’m going to sit down with my parents and family and talk about it this weekend.”
Whitley did not let on if he has made his decision. Asked if he was leaning to one school, he replied, “No. They’re even.”
Whitley did make an unofficial visit to Virginia Tech yesterday along with his parents. It will be the final visit he makes to either school unless there is a change of plans.
“I talked to all the coaches and what not,” Whitley said of his visit to Virginia Tech. “It was a good visit. I wanted to go there to reassure myself of everything, to help me make sure of my decision.”
Whitley, who is rated a 3-star recruit by Rivals.com and Scout.com, made over 100 tackles and tallied six interceptions last season as a junior. He played safety, but is being recruited by Virginia Tech as a cornerback initially.
