If you’ve followed Virginia Tech basketball long enough, you know that a
picture of Cassell Coliseum can be found next to the word "attrition"
in the dictionary. Jenis Grindstaff, Dennis Mims, Roland Roberts, Danny Gathings, Dimari Thompkins,
Kenny Harrell and Marquie Cooke are just a few of the many players that have
left the program without finishing their eligibility in the last 10 years.
Despite the fun and excitement of the 2006-07 season, the offseason has been
equally disappointing.

First there was the Gus Gilchrist announcement that he wasn’t planning to
enroll at Virginia Tech. Robert Krabbendam also announced his decision to return
to Holland. Rumors have surfaced that Nigel Munson is seeking a transfer, and
Dorenzo Hudson’s qualification status has been in question as well.

So who is going to play for the Hokies this year? A total of five returning
scholarship players have no question marks at this point.

One of those, Terrance Vinson, saw basically no playing time last year. The
other four players saw starting time last season, and at times were very
productive, though Witcher slowed down as the season progressed.
