The ACC is not as deep a football conference as others around the nation, although
there are some big-name programs at the top. The Hokies have won more games than
any team in the conference over the last five years, but it’s more than wins and
losses that determines how strong a program is at its core. This article ranks
the ACC football programs from top to bottom based on several important categories: wins,
stadium, tradition, fan support, and recruiting base.
Wins
For the win category, I looked at each team’s record over the past five
years. The games they won from 2002-06 were added up, and ranked from 1-12. This
is the only part of the equation that isn’t my opinion. It’s based on fact.
