Prior to last Saturday, Virginia Tech was the heavy favorite for Amherst (VA) star Peter Rose. The 6-1, 180-pound ATH prospect had a great visit to Virginia for its Elite Junior Day last Saturday, though, and the Cavs are now back in contention.

“I went to UVa thinking it would be another visit and pretty much Tech was on my mind,” Rose said. “When I got on the field and talked to the coaches, it kind of changed my mind to where UVa and Tech are neck and neck. Tech and UVa are now battling it out.”

Rose discussed the strengths of each of his favorites. Though he has offers from other schools including Navy and Syracuse, his decision is down to the two in-state programs.

“With UVa, it is more about me getting my degree from there,” Rose said. “If I didn’t play football after college, I’d have a degree that could help me get almost any job.
