Amherst (VA) ATH Peter Rose is the latest in-state junior to land scholarship offers from both Virginia and Virginia Tech. The Cavaliers offered last Friday, while Virginia Tech came in with an offer on Tuesday of this week. Marshall, Navy and Syracuse are among the other schools to offer the talented 6-1, 180-pound junior.
Rose is pleased that Virginia Tech and Virginia came through.
“I’m definitely considering both of them,” Rose said of Virginia and Virginia Tech. “The locations are not far from home. Both are awesome programs. I’ve talked to Coach Borbely, Coach Lineburg, Coach [Al] Groh and Coach Poindexter. They seem like good guys. They persuade you very well that their college is the one that suits you. At this time, Rose is looking to take his time before making a commitment. Not too much time, though.
“I’m going to see if I can wait it out and go visit a couple of colleges,” Rose said. “I want to visit a lot of them, really. All of the coaches seem like nice guys that want to play football and win as much as I do.”
Rose has several visits in place. First, he plans to visit Virginia Tech for camp on June 9th. Then, he plans to head to Wake Forest on June 10th and Virginia on June 16th. Liberty, Marshall and Richmond are schools he is considering visits to in July.
Look for a decision to come this summer.
“I do believe I will make my decision before the season starts,” said Rose, who has visited Virginia (spring game) and Virginia Tech (camp) before. “I am just going to try to work hard in school right now and then do my best to find the...
