With 18 Division 1A scholarship offers in the fold, West Windsor Plainsboro South (Princeton Junction, N.J.) linebacker J.B. Fitzgerald has plenty of options for the next level. He plans to narrow his list very soon, though, to a more manageable number of schools.
“Following this month, I’m going to trim my list down probably to six or seven schools,” Fitzgerald said. “As of now, I only have two more unofficial visits planned [for late spring/summer]. The first weekend in June, my parents and I are going to Ann Arbor to visit Michigan. It will be my third trip out there and my mother’s first trip out there. I’ll get to know the Michigan players a little bit, so it should be pretty good.
“Two weeks after that, I will take a trip down to Florida. I want to see the program first hand, check out the campus and see what they have to offer academically.”

Both Virginia 1A football programs have offered the 6-3, 225-pound junior. Fitzgerald discussed his current impression of each. Of the two, Fitzgerald has only made an unofficial visit to UVa for the February 24th junior day.
“UVa was one of my first offers,” said Fitzgerald, who added that three UVa coaches visited WWPS earlier in the Evaluation period with two more (Bob Price and Wayne Lineburg) visiting last week. “I definitely liked what they had to offer. I will take a serious look at them. I’m not sure where they fall with the other schools, but I’m going to reevaluate them and we’ll see what happens next month.
“[With Virginia Tech] I haven’t spoken too much really to them other than my offer and texting from the coach a few times. I haven’t heard too much from them. I imagine how busy they are especially with the recent tragedy. Virginia Tech is a program I respect. I really liked watching them when I was growing up and it was awesome to get that offer.”
Fitzgerald’s first cut will come very soon. His second cut will come...
