Game recap

Coming out aggressive and ready to play, the Capital All-Stars outscored the U.S. All-Stars 48-28 in the first quarter en route to a 149-145 win in the 34th annual Capital Classic.

Capital All-Stars power forward/center Augustus Gilchrist, one of four Virginia Tech recruits in the game, captured MVP honors. Playing hard on both ends of the court throughout the game, the Progressive Christian star scored 24 points on 11-17 shooting and corralled nine rebounds to lead his team to victory.

After a disastrous first period, the U.S. All-Stars, spurred on by a late second quarter run, cut the deficit to 12 heading into halftime. Fending off a more determined U.S. team in the third quarter, the Capital All-Stars kept the 12-point lead heading into the final period.
