6-5, 265-pound Desmond Roberts , a three-star offensive line recruit out of Northampton (Gaston, N.C.), made an important official visit this past weekend to N.C. State. Roberts committed to N.C. State before the dismissal of Chuck Amato as head coach and has continued to call himself a Wolfpack commit albeit a soft commit since Tom OBrien took over. Is he now a solid commit?

Coach OBrien knew that I was committed before. He asked if I still wanted to be a commitment, Roberts said. I said I was still committed, but Im still thinking about going on some other visits. He was cool with that. I have to talk about it with my mom to see what I’m going to do.

Roberts has scheduled three more official visits leading up to Signing Day. He is supposed to go to Penn State this coming weekend, Virginia Tech the following weekend and UNC on the weekend of February 2nd.

I dont know exactly what Im going to do right now, Roberts said. I havent had time to talk about it with my mom yet. I should know what Im going to do later this week.

Roberts reflected on his official visit to Raleigh.

It was fun, Roberts said. I liked it a lot. I enjoyed hanging out with the guys. I got to meet new coaches. I just wanted to see how Coach OBrien was and what expectations he had for the team.

TSL will be sure to follow up with Roberts for the latest later this week. Obviously, the Tech staff is hoping Roberts follows through with the rest of his official visits.
