Salem (Virginia Beach, Virginia) defensive line prospect Chima Okoli , one of the hottest names on the recruiting circuit over the past month, will begin his final run of official visits this upcoming weekend. He goes to Virginia Tech and will follow that trip up with an official visit to Penn State on the weekend of the 26th.

Next weekend its Virginia Tech, which Im real excited about, Okoli said of his visit schedule. He has already been to Marshall and Michigan State on official visits. Contrary to popular belief, the Hokies are still very much in it. Im still very much interested in Virginia Tech. There was an article recently where I said some things in jest about Virginia Tech, but I want to clear it up that I am still very interested in them.

Okoli has three finalists Michigan State, Penn State and Virginia Tech.

Its hard to have three number ones, but all three of them have a good chance with me, Okoli said.

One thing that will help Virginia Tech is that it is no longer recruiting the 6-5, 275-pound Okoli as a grey-shirt.

They went ahead and took away the grey-shirt, Okoli said. My coach talked to them and pretty much told them that I wouldnt be interested if they offered as a grey-shirt, so they withdrew it.

One thing that could hurt Virginia Techs position is the fact that Okoli believes the staff is still recruiting him as a defensive tackle. Michigan State and Penn State are recruiting him as a defensive end, the position he wants to play on the next level.

I know I might grow out of the defensive end position, but thats what I would like to play, Okoli said. But, wherever I end up Ill definitely try my hardest to help the team.

Okoli discussed what hell be looking for on his remaining official visits.

Just the everyday life on campus and how everything is, Okoli said. I want to tour the academic facilities and learn more about the academic support system. Im interested in majoring in Political Science, so Ill look into that too.

Okoli is not sure when he will receive some more in-home visits, but he did say that Virginia Tech primary recruiter Curt Newsome has been in-home. We will follow up with Okoli following his official visit to Tech this weekend.
