There has been talk of Chris Drager , the 6-4, 230-pound tight end/defensive end recruit out of Thomas Jefferson (Jefferson City, PA), perhaps setting an official visit to Pitt in the month of January. TechSideline.com caught up with Drager, who discussed the latest in his recruitment.

Asked he remained committed to Virginia Tech, Drager replied “Yes. I’m still committed.”

Asked if he had set up an official visit to Pitt, Drager replied “no,” adding that he was going to set an official visit to Virginia Tech for late January.

Drager committed to Virginia Tech in early July of this year, just a day after attending Virginia Tech’s senior camp.

“I’m still confident in my decision,” said Drager, who keeps in close contact with primary recruiter Bryan Stinespring. He and Stinespring speak every week.

Drager’s senior football season recently came to a disappointing end, as previously undefeated Thomas Jefferson fell in the PIAA Class AAA state semifinals to eventual state champ General McLane. Thomas Jefferson did win the WPIAL Class AAA championship, but winning the state title was the main goal.

“We were obviously disappointed,” Drager said. “We were ranked #1 in the state. Our expectations were to win the state. It’s still a good accomplishment to do what we did, but we expected more. A lot of people consider us the best class to come through Thomas Jefferson. I don’t know about that, but we were pretty good.”

Drager recently earned first-team all-section honors at tight end for his senior season performance. He was also a standout defensive end for the Jaguars

“I think I just got a little more athletic this year,” said Drager, who is currently playing for his varsity basketball squad. “I do think I improved a lot.”

Drager is being recruited by Virginia Tech initially to play tight end, although defensive line could be a possibility as well.
