Virginia Tech already has one commitment from Cardinal Mooney High School (Sarasota, FL) in linebacker Hunter Ovens. The staff is working on getting another in 6-2, 241-pound defensive end Michael Connolly . Connolly does not yet hold an offer from the Hokies for next year, but he has been offered an opportunity.
“I’ve been talking with Coach Wiles,” Connolly said. “They’ve been in close contact with our school because Hunter Ovens is going there. About three weeks ago, Coach Wiles came down. Me, him and Hunter had dinner. He came back to my house and talked to my parents and I. He talked about the school and the tradition and how it’s a winning program. Connolly may make an official visit to Ball State in January as well. He may also go to Virginia Tech, which has offered him an official visit on either January 19th or January 26th. Could Kansas land a commitment before Connolly makes the other visits?
“I’m always up for anything,” Connolly said. “I’m not going to say I’ll do this or that. If something does happen with another school like Tech or any other school, then I don’t want to rule out that.”
Three-and-a-half months after suffering an isolated tear in the ACL of his left knee, Connolly was back out on the field for Cardinal Mooney. He helped his team capture a district championship, as he returned for the game in which they sealed the title. In the contest,...
