Highland Springs (VA) star cornerback/wide receiver Cris Hill has taken two official visits, and this appears to be all he’ll need to be able to make a decision. The 5-11, 175-pound prospect could be close – very close, in fact – to making a commitment to one of his two finalists.
“I’m going to be making my decision pretty soon,” Hill said. “It’s going to be before Christmas.”
Tennessee and Virginia Tech are the finalists for the blue-chip prospect. At this point, though, Hill did not let on to a potential leader between the two.
“It’s about even,” Hill said.
Hill made an official visit to Virginia Tech on the weekend of December 2nd and followed that up with an official visit to Tennessee this past weekend. He said he “really enjoyed” himself at Virginia Tech. How was the experience at Tennessee?
“It went very well,” Hill said. “I got to hang out with the guys. They showed me around Knoxville. Tennessee fans are absolutely crazy for their football program. It has a very family oriented environment.”
Hill says he had similar feelings about each official visit experience.
“At Virginia Tech, I felt the family presence too,” Hill said. “At Tennessee, they made you feel right at home even if you are out of state.”
Of Virginia Tech Head Coach Frank Beamer and Tennessee Head Coach Phil Fulmer, Hill says “I think they are both very good coaches. Both are probably going to be at their schools coaching for a long time, which is important. It’s good to know the coach is going to be there.”
When he does make up his mind, Hill says he “probably will just tell the coaches” and probably would not hold a press conference.
Hill has not given much indication in the past of a favorite and he did not do so here. I do like Virginia Tech’s chances here, but Hill is going to do a little more thinking before he makes a commitment. I honestly would not be surprised at either choice. One thing is for sure – it looks like everyone will find out where he is going very soon.
