Jamar Jackson ’s decision seems to get more and more complicated. After enjoying each of his first four official visits – to Boston College, Louisville, N.C. State and Virginia Tech, respectively – the 6-4, 230-pound Varina (VA) star had another good experience this past weekend. And he has one more visit remaining before he plans to make a decision.

“It was great,” Jackson said of this past weekend’s visit to Clemson. It was an unofficial visit. “Actually, the stadium really surprised me. It was as loud as Blacksburg was to me. It was real loud. I liked the whole atmosphere.”

Jackson arrived at Clemson on Saturday and left Sunday morning. While he didn’t get to experience as much as he would if it was an official visit, the trip still went well.

“I didn’t get to really tour the campus, but we rode around and the coaches showed us around the facilities,” Jackson said. “They showed me the locker room and the coaches’ offices. Coach Bowden was great. It was a real honor to meet him. I talked to a couple of players. I talked to Gaines Adams and Ricky Sapp, guys who play my position. They were saying it is a great program with great academics.”

Jackson will use his fifth and final official visit spot on Florida State, which is the latest school to extend a written offer.

“I was just happy,” Jackson replied when asked about his reaction to the offer from Florida State. “I talked to Coach [Bobby] Bowden. I was just real happy to talk to him. I’m going to visit there on the second weekend in November.”

Has the top defensive end/linebacker recruit been able to narrow his list recently?

“Me and my parents were talking,” Jackson said. “I’m getting there. I’m looking at academics and the history of these programs. I’m talking with my parents about everything. I’m getting close to narrowing my list.”

Jackson expects to have narrowed his list of schools before he makes his official visit to Florida State. He gave his current impression of Virginia Tech’s program.

“Virginia Tech is of course high on my list,” Jackson said. “I’m just waiting for this last visit. I’m weighing all my options. Virginia Tech is high on my list. It is a great school.”

The season…

Varina is 7-1 and, having won seven straight games, the team seems to be hitting its stride. Observers have raved about Jackson’s
