Kwamaine Battle, a 6-1, 260-pound defensive end prospect out of Southern Nash High School in Bailey, North Carolina, verbally committed to Virginia Tech earlier today according to Souther Nash head coach Brian Foster.

Battle chose the Hokies over interest from North Carolina and Wake Forest, among others. Tech was the first to offer.

“He called me today and told me,” Foster said. “They are getting a great kid. He’s undersized, but he has a good motor. He’s a strong kid with a good character. He’s a quality all-around kid. I think he carries something like a 3.6 core GPA. He’s a leader in our school. Football-wise, I think he has huge upside. He’s only 16, so he’ll be a young senior.”

Battle ran a 4.8 in the 40-yard dash and posted a 35-inch vertical leap at today’s Virginia Tech senior camp. He was offered after the camp.
