6-2, 215-pound Brian Maddox , one of the top running back recruits in East, plans to announce his verbal commitment this Friday at a 6:00 p.m. press conference at T.L. Hanna High School (Anderson, S.C.). Maddox has narrowed his list of schools to six and will discuss the decision with his family this week.
“We’ve created a nice matrix that’s consisted of about 32 items that we’re evaluating all the schools on,” Brian’s father Eddie Maddox said. “We’ve really broken it out and we’ve brought about six schools out of the 20 schools that have offered him. We’re doing a final analysis. We’ve created a new matrix with some newer items that we’re looking at the best of the best with and we’ll come out with a number one by the end of the week.”
His father discussed the most important factors in the final decision.

We’re looking at the coaching staff, stability and if these guys share the same values we have. The last thing that is also a big item is the strength, speed and conditioning program. To play well on the next level you have to have a program that gets kids bigger, stronger and faster.”
So which schools made the final cut?
“I’m going to give you a list of schools at the top, but this is not in any order,” Maddox said. “There is Florida, Virginia Tech, University of South Carolina, University of North Carolina, Florida State and the University of Maryland.”
An early commitment was something Brian was looking to make from the beginning for both personal and team reasons.
“He wanted to get it out of his way before his senior year and at the same time he didn’t want to cause a distraction for the team,” Eddie Maddox said. “He wanted to carry on the team concept in his senior season. He didn’t want everyone focusing on him.”
The Maddox family has visited each of the finalists. Virginia Tech, which the family visited this past weekend, was the most recent. It...
