It didn’t take Lee County (Sanford, N.C.) defensive lineman prospect Joey Hall very long at all to take Virginia Tech’s scholarship offer. The 6-3, 260-pound prospect found out this morning that he would get the offer from Tech, which is his childhood favorite.
“I got the offer this morning,” Hall said. “I knew I was going to find out today or tomorrow. My phone rang this morning and it was my coach. I knew why he was calling. I knew as soon as my coach said my name that it was good news. Then I called the Virginia Tech coaches and committed.”
Hall made an official visit to Virginia Tech on the weekend of January 20th. Besides being his childhood favorite, Tech impressed him very much that weekend. Following the trip, Hall stated that he would accept an offer if he was able to get one.
The Tech coaches are recruiting Hall as a defensive tackle.
“I’ll play wherever they want me to, but I’m pretty sure it’s going to be defensive tackle,” Hall said. “I think they like that I have really quick hands. They also like that I just want to play. I’ll do what it takes and I never quit.”
As a senior, Hall racked up 75 tackles including 10 tackles-for-loss and 10 sacks. He was 3-time defensive player of the week. Academically, Hall says he has already met the necessary standards to qualify.
He is the 20th player to verbal to the Hokies for the 2006 recruiting class.
