Banneker (College Park, GA) defensive tackle Olufemi Ajiboye made an official visit to Virginia Tech last weekend. The official visit went well but, as of now, the 6-2, 290-pound prospect is leaning heavily towards sticking with his commitment to South Carolina. Virginia Tech coaches will visit him today…can they sway him?
Ajiboye had a good visit to Tech…
“I liked the visit to Virginia Tech,” said Ajiboye, who is now rated a 4-star prospect by Rivals.com. His host was Sergio Render. “I like how the town is. It’s a college town and everybody knows who you are. I liked the dorm rooms and the facilities. The players were cool too. And I liked the coaches. They were telling me I could come in and there is a good chance for me to play early. They like how I’d fit into the program.”
…but, it may not be enough.
“I still think I’ll be at South Carolina,” Ajiboye said. “It’s a hard decision, but I feel South Carolina is the best place for me. It is a hard decision between Tech and South Carolina.”
Ajiboye hosted the South Carolina coaches yesterday. Today, it’s Virginia Tech’s turn.
“Virginia Tech is coming in [today],” Ajiboye said. “It’s going to be Coach Beamer and the defensive line coach.”
Stay tuned as we follow up with Olufemi to see if the Tech coaches were able to change his mind or if he will indeed stick with South Carolina.
A big-time defensive tacke prospect, he made 80 total tackles including 60 solo efforts and 20 tackles-for-loss in his senior season. He also made 4 1/2 sacks.
