Recent Commitments and Future Decision Dates…
DB Mario Edwards committed to Virginia Tech
WR Douglas McNeil committed to Virginia Tech
Former VT commitment Budd Thacker will commit to Florida State today
RB Evan Royster committed to Penn State.
WR/CB Brent Vinson committed to Tennessee.
DT Olufemi Ajiboye committed to South Carolina (but is still visiting VT this weekend).
RB Brandon Minor will choose between Michigan and Tennessee today.
Important visits for the weekend of January 20th-22nd
VT visitors (uncommitted or “soft” commits)
DT Olufemi Ajiboye. Ajiboye committed to South Carolina last weekend, but will go to Tech this weekend. There is a chance, but Tech will have to really impress in order to snag him away from the Gamecocks.
OL Billy Cuffee. If Virginia Tech offers, I think the Hokies would be in pretty good shape here.
OL Hutch Eckerson. Eckerson had a terrific official to South Carolina, but I could easily see him putting Tech right back in the lead with an excellent visit. This one will be close between the Gamecocks and the Hokies.
DL Joey Hall. According to head coach Jody Stouffer, Tech really liked Hall’s highlight tape but hasn’t officially offered just yet.
FB Devven Sutton. I think Sutton could commit this weekend. ECU is still under consideration, but I think Tech is in the driver’s seat.
WR Jacob Sykes. According to Sykes’ mother, Jacob remains committed to Virginia Tech even after making several official visits elsewhere. I don’t expect anything to change after this weekend.
LB Matt Wright. Tech would love to wrap up Wright this weekend. If he makes his official to UVa, I do think the Cavs would have a chance but I still think Tech is the team to beat at this point.
VT targets visiting elsewhere
TE/DL Dennis Godfrey will visit Virginia. Godfrey still seems pretty open at this point, and I fully expect him...
