We have less than one month until Signing Day 2006. Stay tuned to Techsideline.com, as we will continue to provide regular updates on remaining targets as well as Countdown to Signing Day articles. Taking the place of the War Rooms for this month, the Countdown to Signing Day articles includes a brief summary of the class to date, recent developments and a look at the remaining targets still in play.
DE Jason Adjepong committed to Virginia Tech
ATH Lucas Caparelli committed to Wake Forest
LB Jarrell Miller committed to UNC
LB Brandon Spikes committed to Florida.
Important visits for the weekend of January 13th-15th
DT Olufemi Ajiboye will visit South Carolina.
OL Hutch Eckerson will visit South Carolina. Virginia Tech leads right now with N.C. State second.
TE/DL Dennis Godfrey will visit Clemson immediately followed by South Carolina. Don’t expect a decision until close to Signing Day. Godfrey has no clear favorites and will visit Virginia Tech on the weekend of the 27th.
LB Rodney Paulk will visit South Carolina. Paulk has committed to South Carolina, so VT has to hope the Gamecocks aren’t able to get him to solidify his verbal. Otherwise, he will visit VT next weekend before making a final decision.
WR Jacob Sykes, a VT commit, will visit NCSU this weekend and follow that up with a visit to VT next weekend.
LB/DE Dekoda Watson will visit UNC this weekend. UNC was the first major offer, so don’t count out the ‘Heels here. FSU could be tough to beat.
DT Phillip Taylor will visit Maryland. Taylor has set an official to VT for January 27th, but obviously this is a big weekend. Taylor was very high on Maryland early. Maryland and PSU may be the teams to beat, although don’t count out Virginia Tech…especially if he follows through and visits.
DL Doug Thacker is scheduled to visit Florida State this weekend. This will be his only other official visit (he made one to VT last month). Thacker still calls himself a VT commit, but this weekend’s visit is reason to be nervous.
DE Brian Whitmore will visit UNC. Whitmore has backed off his commitment to Maryland and will visit UNC, South Carolina and Virginia Tech…in that order. I like Tech’s chances right now, with Maryland or UNC being the other likely possibilities.
LB Matt Wright will visit UNC....
