Maury (Norfolk, VA) QB/Ath Kam Chancellor was hoping for a Division 1A offer to come down the pipeline. Last week, the 6-4, 215-pound prospect got what he was looking for when Virginia Tech came through. He returned the interest by taking an official visit to Blacksburg last Thursday and Friday.
“A [Virginia Tech] coach called me last Tuesday or something and asked which school would be the school I’d want an offer from and I said ‘Virginia Tech’,” Chancellor said. “They offered me and I went on a visit on Thursday and Friday.”
The visit went very well for the Maury star.
“I got to watch them practice and hang around the players,” said Chancellor, who was hosted by freshman tight end Sam Wheeler. “They reminded me of our team. The players were cool and they kept it real.”
A decision is expected to come soon.
“I’m going to make a decision by next week,” Chancellor said. “I’ve got a family conference [this] Saturday. We’re going to talk about my decision, and then I’m probably going to make a decision next week.”
According to the athletic Chancellor, Virginia Tech is recruiting him to play quarterback. This season, he threw for around 2,000 yards and rushed for 400 more in leading Maury to a 9-2 overall record.
