Hertford County (Ahoskie, N.C.) star wide receiver LaMarcus Bond , who finished the 2005 season with 30 touchdowns (including 7 punt-returns, 2 kick-returns and 2 interception returns), is ready to set some official visits now that his senior season is finished. Which schools is the 5-9, 175-pound prospect looking to visit?
“Virginia Tech, N.C. State, UVa, UNC, Clemson,” listed Bond, who is also considering offers from Auburn and Miami, among others. “I’m about to start setting my official visits. I haven’t set any yet.”
Bond led his team to a playoff appearance in 2005, but Hertford fell in last Friday’s opening round. While there is no more high school football left, setting official visits could prove tricky with varsity basketball on the horizon.
“I do play basketball,” Bond said. “Our first game is December 2nd. I don’t know yet when I’ll be able to take my official visits.”
Bond obviously excels on the football field, but what some may not know is how good he is on the basketball court as well. He claims basketball offers from UNC-Greensboro, UNC-Charlotte, Old Dominion and Winston-Salem State. A point guard, he averaged 25 points per game last season as a junior.
Does he want to play basketball on the next level, too?
“I was thinking about that, but I don’t know,” Bond said.
Bond hears from UVa assistant Anthony Poindexter on a weekly basis, but hasn’t heard as much from Virginia Tech. He had hoped to make an unofficial visit to Blacksburg for the Miami game, but could not make the trip.
N.C. State is a school that has been high on Bond’s list for a while as well, but he claims no favorites among the five schools he will visit. Could location prove to be a factor in the end?
“It doesn’t really matter, but I don’t want to go too far,” Bond replied.
