Westlake (Atlanta, GA) defensive back Mario Edwards , who was hosted this past weekend by Virginia Tech freshman free safety Cameron Martin, rated his official visit experience at Virginia Tech a “9.” Like several others, it was his first trip to Blacksburg.
“I’d probably give it a 9,” Edwards replied when asked to rate his visit. “It would have been a 10 had they won, but otherwise it was great. The game atmosphere was amazing…it was just crazy. The crowd wouldn’t stop cheering. The fans still backed the team even though they lost.”
What did Mario think of the players and the coaches?
“They have a good team camaraderie,” Edwards said. “The coaches are cool and real down to earth. The players are, too.”
What did the coaches talk to Edwards about?
“Basically, they talked about tradition and talked about the position I’d play,” Edwards said. “They like me really as a free safety.”
Virginia Tech was Edwards’ leader before the visit and nothing has changed. He said Virginia Tech is “above the rest” when asked if he had a favorite. But, Edwards doesn’t expect to make a decision any time soon.
“I want to take all five official visits,” Edwards said.
Other schools in the mix include Arkansas and Mississippi State, among others. Both of those programs have officially offered.
