Varina (VA) star tailback Brandon Minor appears to have narrowed his list of schools to four. Last weekend, he made his first official visit and it was to the University of Tennessee. Tennessee is one of the finalists.
“It was good,” Minor said of the visit. “I liked the game atmosphere and the fans. I liked all the players. I liked the play calling. They give the running backs lots of opportunities to make plays.”
Asked what he thought of Coach Phil Fulmer, Minor replied “I really like him. He doesn’t say too much and he seems like he’s speaking the truth. He doesn’t blow smoke.”
As for the remaining visits, the talented 6-1, 220-pound back has official visits scheduled to Michigan for December 2nd, Miami for December 16th and Virginia Tech for January 14th. Minor also plans to make an unofficial visit to Virginia Tech for the Miami game.
Asked if he was considering other schools, Minor noted that he felt he was probably “just considering these four.”
Are there any favorites right now?
“I’m not leaning anywhere right now,” Minor said. “I’m going to let the visits determine where I go. I’m seeing what school fits my style the most. I’m laid-back, but I like to have an energetic atmosphere.”
Minor’s senior season may not be going as planned individually-wise, as he has missed most of the year with a hip injury. He is very happy with the team’s success, however. Varina is 6-0 and playing extremely well. It won the last game by a score of 21-0 and is playing well on both sides of the ball.
Minor expects to return to action next week and says he’ll be 100 percent.
