Virginia Tech hosted its first official visitor this recruiting season, when 6-3, 205-pound super athlete Zach Luckett made his trip this past weekend. Luckett, who is the star for Holy Spirit High School in Absecon, New Jersey, was hosted by former New Jersey prep star and current Virginia Tech freshman Jahre Cheeseman.
Before the visit, Luckett said he wanted “to see if I’m comfortable with the situation there” at Virginia Tech. Well, how did he feel?
“It felt great,” Luckett said. “The atmosphere was tremendous. The people around town were friendly. The stadium atmosphere was unbelievable and it wasn’t even a big game. The team and the coaches made me feel real comfortable with everything.”
While Virginia Tech remains the heavy favorite, Luckett will not make his decision until the end of the year.
“I don’t plan to make my decision until early December,” Luckett said. “Virginia Tech was my number one before, but they’ve moved up if possible.”
Will Luckett make any more official visits?
“I think I might take one more,” Luckett said. “I’m thinking about going to Boston College.”
An outstanding athlete, Luckett, who plays tailback for head coach Bill Walsh, says he is being recruited by Virginia Tech as a wide receiver. With his physique and athleticism, he could play a variety of other positions as well.
