One school has jumped out as the clear favorite for talented Queen of Peace (North Arlington, N.J.) defensive end Mike Gee. Gee, who is 6-2, 240 pounds, has received over 10 scholarship offers and is considered one of the top defenders in his home state.
“Virginia Tech is far and away my favorite school,” Gee said. “They are because of the fact that they do produce a lot of good defensive ends and I feel like I fit into their system really well. They were the school I followed growing up. In the 8th and 9th grade, I told myself that, if I was offered, that’s where I would go.”
Gee has planned a visit to Virginia Tech for next weekend. Is there a chance he commits?
“I probably won’t do it while I’m down there,” said Gee, who has talked earlier about making a decision this summer. “I might decide by the end of the month, though.”
This will be Gee’s first visit to Virginia Tech.
“I’m just going to go down there and see what it is like,” Gee said. “After that, we’ll go from there.”
Other schools who have offered include Boston College, Louisville, Nebraska, North Carolina and Virginia, among others. In just six games last season as a junior, Gee tallied 26 tackles including five sacks.
