South View (Hope Mills, NC) tight end recruit Jonathan Hannah will make his final official visit this weekend and will announce his decision on Monday, January 24th. Virginia Tech made its final pitch last night, as Frank Beamer, Charley Wiles and Kevin Rogers were in-home with the talented 6-4, 250-pound recruit.
“It went very well,” Hannah said. “I watched cut clips of their tight ends this year. Their guys go down the middle a lot.”
How did it compare with other in-homes from other schools?
“They’ve all been about the same,” Hannah replied. All head coaches from the schools involved have made in-home visits. “I’ve had the privilege to meet all of these great head coaches. It’s been a great experience.”
Hannah will announce his decision among four schools. He was careful not to name a leader however.
“Virginia Tech, UNC, N.C. State and South Carolina,” Hannah replied when asked which schools he will decide from. “I’d say they are pretty even right now.”
Last weekend, Hannah made an official visit to South Carolina. It appears to have gone very well, maybe surprisingly well for Hannah.
“It went great,” Hannah said. “I didn’t expect much, but I came away very impressed. I was impressed with their academic support staff and how much support the football program has. The University supports the football program and believes that Coach Spurrier is going to make them great. I talked to Coach Spurrier a lot. He drew up routes that he said they used when he had Ben Troupe and some of those other guys.”
This weekend, Hannah will head to N.C. State. He said he is “excited” about the visit. His press conference is scheduled for 10:00 am in his high school’s library.
