Rock Hill (Northwestern, SC) cornerback Jamie Robinson returned on Sunday from an official visit to Clemson, which was his second overall official visit. He did not commit to the Tigers, but he did indicate that he enjoyed his time.
“Overall, it went pretty good,” Robinson said. “I had fun on the visit. Nothing surprised me because I’d been there before. It was how I expected it to be. I felt pretty comfortable around the players.”
Robinson was hosted by red-shirt junior cornerback Tye Hill. The two seemed to get along well.
“He was telling me that he went through the same process as me and that I need to go to the best place for me,” Robinson said. “If I came there, he said he would take me under his wing early and I could learn from him.”
The previous weekend, the 6-1, 185-pound Robinson made an official visit to Florida State. He could not compare the two visits however.
“Really, the two schools are so different that it would be hard to compare them,” Robinson said. “The way the players acted was just really different. It’s hard to explain.”
Virginia Tech joins Clemson and Florida State in Robinson’s top 3. The Hokies will host him for an official visit on January 28th and are listed as even with the Tigers and Seminoles.
“I would put them right up there with Florida State and Clemson,” Robinson said of Virginia Tech. “They are not behind at all.”
Relationship with the players is a big factor here. That is exactly what Robinson, who visited Tech unofficially for a game last fall, hopes to find out in a week-and-a-half.
“I just want to get around the players and see their relationship with each other and the coaches,” Robinson said. “I’m going to go to the school where I feel most comfortable.”
This Sunday, Robinson says he will have in-home visits with FSU Head Coach Bobby Bowden and Tech Head Coach Frank Beamer. He has not scheduled an in-home with Tommy Bowden yet.
