Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, VA) standout quarterback/athlete Greg Boone began his official visit tour with a visit this past weekend to Virginia Tech. What impression did Boone leave with following the official visit experience?
“I have a good impression of the program,” Boone said. His host was Robert Parker. “I liked the players and I liked what the coaches had to say. They told me the things I could do to help the program and how they would fit me. I felt comfortable around all of the players. A good amount of the players are from the same area as me, I felt pretty comfortable. I enjoyed the campus.”
Following the visit, what are the things that stand out the most about Virginia Tech right now?
“The coaching staff and the players,” Boone said. “I felt like I fit in with everybody.”
Where does Virginia Tech stand on his list?
“They stand pretty high,” Boone said of Virginia Tech. “I’m not necessarily calling them a leader because they are the only school I’ve been to.”
In addition to the Hokies, Boone is seriously considering Maryland, West Virginia and UNC. Pittsburgh was in the mix as well until Walt Harris accepted the head coach position at Stanford yesterday. Pitt is no longer being considered.
This weekend, Boone makes his second official visit stop when he goes to the University of Maryland. He plans to visit West Virginia and UNC in January.
