Eastern (Voorhees, N.J.) athlete recruit Jahre Cheeseman is almost finished making his official visits and should have a decision made by Christmas. Last weekend, the 5-9, 180-pound speedster took an official visit to Penn State and discussed his experience.
“It was fun,” Cheeseman said. “I had a good time with all of the players. My host was Elijah Robinson. He was cool. I talked to the coaches a lot.”
How did it compare to his first official visit, which was to Virginia Tech?
“The visit was different from the Virginia Tech visit in that Penn State was showing more of the school and there were a lot more meetings,” Cheeseman said. “They showed me everything that goes on at the school. Penn State was a different feel because Virginia Tech had a game that weekend. It wasn’t as crazy with fans everywhere. I’d imagine Penn State can get crazy during a game day too though.
“In comparing both, the players from both programs were really cool at both places. I felt comfortable with the players, the school and the coaches at both places.”
Cheeseman had a visit scheduled to the University of Maryland for this weekend but the trip was cancelled when Maryland informed him that they had too many running backs already committed. His final visit will come next weekend.
“Minnesota will probably be the last visit,” Cheeseman said. “I’m going there on the weekend of the 17th.”
Is there a leader among the final 3 schools?
“Everything’s close until the last official visit,” Cheeseman said. ”I’m looking for somewhere I can be comfortable living at over the next 4 years.”
