Northwestern (Rock Hill, SC) cornerback recruit Jamie Robinson was in attendance for Virginia Tech’s home victory versus the University of Virginia last weekend. Robinson, who says that the Hokies have told him “that I have an offer if I want to come,” talked about his experience.
“The atmosphere was real nice,” Robinson said. “The crowd was juiced and the stadium was really nice. The scenery around the school was real nice. My Mom and Dad went with me. They liked it to, but my Mom said it was kind of cold (laughs).”
Robinson’s offer from Virginia Tech is not an official one at the moment. It is a verbal offer just like Florida State, Clemson, UNC and Tennessee have extended. Among the schools that have offered, Robinson has set one official visit.
“I’m going to Florida State on January 7th,” Robinson said. “I’ll probably take visits to Virginia Tech and Clemson also.”
Florida State, Robinson’s childhood favorite, has a slight lead over the rest right now.
“I’ll say that FSU has a slim lead,” Robinson said when asked if any of the 3 schools he wants to officially visit can be considered a leader. “They’ve just been a team that I’ve liked growing up.”
Robinson expects most of his official visits to occur during the month of January. The 6-1, 185-pound cornerback was selected to play in the North Carolina/South Carolina Shrine Bowl in December, therefore won’t have much time to visit schools. Teams report on December 11th and the game takes place on December 18th.
Northwestern has concluded its 2004 season. They lost to rival Rock Hill by a score of 7-6 in last week’s playoffs.
